Jingyun Li is a freelance theatre director, producer and dramaturg.
Li studied BA Media Studies with a minor in Chinese Languages and Literature at Fudan University (China), Duke Universitiy and Universitiy of California, Santa Barbara (USA) and MA International Dramaturgy at the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands). After working as dramaturg at the Opera Forward Festival 2019 at Dutch National Opera and Holland Festival, she came to Germany in 2019 and interned at Komische Oper Berlin (Frühlingsstürme, Director: Barrie Kosky) and jtw spandau (Die wahre Geschichte, Director: Carlos Manuel).
In her practice, she uses languages as artistic material to transform and recreate ways of writing and speaking. Her own projects focus thematically on sexuality, cultures, and migration, and are formally interdisciplinary and multilingual. Li currently co-curates the international program of Stadttheater Spandau GbR and works at APAL@AmnAsia and Performing Arts Festival Berlin.
